    hi,

    I've got a new slim PStwo ( SCPH-75004) with
    - christal chip 1.2
    - hacked firmware 29
    - bootmanager v2.0.6
    - 1x noname 64Meg PS2 memcard
    - 1x noname PS1, 1MB memcard.
    - 1x PS2 controller
    - 1x PS1 dual shock controller

Now I want to play old PS1 games on my PS2.
They boot, and I can play, but the PS1 memcard isn't recognized by any game.
The PS2 browser, ulelf, christalchip menu, ... nothing recognizes it.

The card is 100% ok, I tested it in a PS1, transfered savegames from this one to another memcard (tried this memcard in PS2 too, same problem, not recognized).

I also tried to connect only the old PS1 controller with that memcard, ...,
put the PS1 memcard to slot 1 and 2, ..., nothing changes.

    Hope someone has an idea.
    thx

Sounds like that memcard is crap, did you test an official MC?
Unofficial MCs are really not the best choice, you might come across some problems with your 64MB card too, some games just don't like big MCs.
BM can only handle PS2 MCs, but ULELF and the PS2 Browser should definitely recognize it unless it's buggy.

The card can't be 100% ok, if it doesn't work with the PS2. I bet $ony made some changes for PS2 MC handling and that's why it works in the PS1, but not in the PS2.

Buy official MCs for both PS1 and PS2 and you'll be fine. They're not too expensive anymore and LaunchELF will grant you unlimited space, so there's no need for the crappy slow 64MB card or the useless noname PS1 card.

some PS1 cards that work on a real PS1 don't work on PS2 due to timing differences and bad design of some third-party cards.

I already thought that it should work with an original mc,
but hoped it'll work with the noname .

So, ok. I'm going to buy an original one.

    Thx for that detailed answers.

PS. Is it normal, that some PS2 games don't work with the PS1 dual shock controller (original sony).
    It doesn't work with NHL2k7, NBA7k7 and Burnout 3.

Yes, the controller thing is normal, cause some games need the analog buttons which are only on the dualshock2.
