Problem with PS2 and HDTV

OK so I have my PS2 plugged into my HDTV via component cables, but on each side there is a black bar, abouut 2-3 inches big, my TV is in 16:9 mode and when I switch to 4:3 mode its still there! how do I fix it? its not there when I watch TV or use VGA connection. Its there with my Wii also!

go to the PS2 browser and change your Settings to 16:9. I don't recall the exact name of the setting you need to change but it should be called something obvious.

I did change that, when I am watching a DVD movie everything is normal, but when I am doing anything else it is like that.

no, I get what you're saying. does your TV have a "zoom" mode? I know on my TV I have to zoom to fill the whole screen.

it has a zoom mode but that doesn't cut off the sides.

If your Wii also has a problem it must be the TV. You might want to try contacting support for the manufacturer and see if they can shed some light on the problem.

I also have the same problem. mine is the olevia 232V. but when i play dvds, the screen fills itself just fine. only with games.
