What exactly does the TO point do on the CC 2.0?

I downloaded an archive of installation pictures somewhere and it was the wrong one. I guess it was for v1! I later looked at the one on the website and the solder point for TO was different.

Well to make the story short my install won't work. It won't read DVD's, i took out the chip and it still won't read original games. looks like i need to get a new ps2. question is, did soldering TO to the wrong place mess up my install or somethin else. My install was pretty decent, nothing bridged. even tested with multimeter. (sorry no pics).

    Version 7 by the way.

The TO point is for the Reset switch so that you can enter recovery mode and all that...maybe you fried your CD/DVD control chip! =O
Sorry man...by the way, I think you could've soldered to some VIA's on the underside of the board for the CD/DVD control chip. ALWAYS USE THE DIAGRAM FOR YOUR VERSION OF PS2, otherwise the install will not work.

The TO (tray open/tray out) point I don't believe needs to be installed to enter recovery mode as I believe that is bios activated IIRC. I also thought the TO point was to aid with the use of cheat discs and multi disc games.

Same thing. But the literal breakdown of the TO acronym is Tray Open

In old version of PS2 TO wire connected to OP/CL_SW circuit (34 pin of TMP87C807xxx) which is connected to Tray Open/Close button in little PCB placed on front panel.
Slim PS2 haven't this button, but there is swith installed and it react for opening/closing disc lid. May be they're function the same, may be not - I haven't Service Manual for slim PS2. Only for v3, v4 fat PS2.

    Sorry fr my bad english....
    Perfect FOE...
