A Pal PS Two on a Japanese NTSC TV
A Pal PS Two on a Japanese NTSC TV –

Hi guys !
First I would like to thank you because when I need help I know I will always find something usefull in here. But there is a problem I encountered that I do not know how to handle.
I bought a Pal PS Two in France when I went back there for a week last Christmas. The modchip is a Crystal Chips CC 1.1. I installed the firmware, of course, and did everything I think was possible to have a console well configured.
When I came back to Japan, I first only used NTSC games, so I did not have any problem playing and enjoying the PS Two.
Last week, I received a PAL game and while I was trying to play with it on my really old and dusty NTSC television, I could not play for the game would not start.
Actually when I start the console the first screen, with the PS 2 logo coming in front of it, is already "dancing" and I am getting so quickly ill watching it that I gave up on the configuration.
Do you know if I can play Pal games on this TV ? Is there a solution to that problem using Boot Manager ? Should I consider upgrading to the last firmware, 19 th one ? Is it worthless ?
I also tried the PS2 Pal 2 NTSC with YFix but after the back-up is burned, the console seems to ignore me and my DVD
Thanks for your help !

You should be able to use BootManager to force the video output to NTSC for all games.
Upgrading the firmware is probably a good idea anyway, but make sure you use the hacked version or it won't work with backups.

Thanks mp3 boy. The problem right now is I can not see anything on the TV for it is moving so quickly... I am not sure on which option I am clicking on.
Looks like an absurd situation to me.

hmm, see if you can find a newer TV to use, most of them can cope with both pal and ntsc

Well, before I consider such a solution, I will try to install it and see what the result is. The TV are pretty expensive these days in Japan. Shops has begun to sell only Liquid Cristals Screen TV (or something like that, I do not know how to translate it from french or japanese).
Anyway, thanks for your help mp3 !

Ok got the new firmware and the new Boot Manager installed. Where am I supposed to force the video output to NTSC for all games ? Is it in the Boot Manager configuration ?

Pictoral guide on how to change video settings in Bootmanager

I'm not too sure what problem you are having exactly with the conversion, so I'll write a guide for both changing BootManagers video mode and changing PAL to NTSC game conversion.
Forcing Bootmanager to either NTSC only video mode or PAL only video mode
Step 1) This is the default menu of Bootmanager if you do not have a disc inserted during bootup. The menu item you want to select is Configuration; which pressing DOWN three times and then pressing X will select (if you cannot see the screen)

Step 2) The menu item you want is Bootmanager Configuration; just press X to move on to the next screen

Step 3) The option to force Bootmanager video mode in menus is at the top of the list; there are three different modes you can choose: Auto, NTSC, and PAL. Choose which one you want to force your video to (if you have an NTSC TV, then choose the NTSC option; PAL TV users should use the PAL option). Press X once to start the selection process, pressing RIGHT once will select NTSC mode, pressing RIGHT again will select PAL mode, pressing RIGHT again will go back to Auto mode. This is all you need to do to force video modes in Bootmanager menus.

------------------------------------------------------------------
Forcing GAME video mode to either PAL or NTSC mode
Step 1) This is the default menu of Bootmanager if you do not have a disc inserted during bootup. The menu item you want to select is Configuration; which pressing DOWN three times and then pressing X will select (if you cannot see the screen)

Step 2) You want to select Enhancement Configuration; get to it by pressing DOWN once, and then the X button to move to the next menu.

Step 3) You want to select PS2 Software next; get to it by pressing DOWN once, and then the X button once.

Step 4) This is the menu that you use to force game video modes. Press DOWN three times if NTSC fixes are turned off like mine. You want to press X once to select PAL then press RIGHT to turn it on. Force Video mode to NTSC mode, Force Color to NTSC mode, turn on the Screen position modifiers, and set them to X=-20 and Y=-50.

This should solve your problems.

Also, the PAL to NTSC fix only works the way it should in the latest version of Bootmanager, 1.8, so make sure you use that version with these fixes.
