Noobie help with crystal chip 1.2 and problems on different tvs! –

Hey guys,
I have a crystal version 1.2 chip (at least that is what it says when I try to upgrade the firmware).
I have a problem. I have a sony plasma which I use component outputs which works great! All my games work, all my backups work, it is the best.
Then I have my newer panasonic plasma which I have hooked it up to and some games work/others dont. I can't figure it out! I put it back in the sony and everything works again. I am using component out on both tvs.
I also tried upgrading the firmware with the hack and the beta version from the home website; it wont do anything. It looks like it is copying stuff, but when I reboot it is the same!
What can I do? Appreciate your help as I am new to this stuff!
And have spent a lot of time trying to figure this out.
Thanks
Mo

Well, I finally realized it is the mod chip for some reason. There is nothing wrong with my tv, there is something wrong with crystal mod chip.. I hate to say it and disapoint you guys, but I wish I had that matrix chip now. Is there any suggestions ? Thanks

This is not likely caused by the chip. As far as the chip or PS2 are concerned, a TV is a TV. The TV gives no feedback what-so-ever to the console, the video port is only output.
If you give more information I'll try to help you resolve your problem. What do you mean by "don't work"? Do they games show up in the wrong colors, does the screen "roll", etc? What region is the console and what region are the games that work/don't work? Does the game work if you boot it in "Minimal Mode"?

The original games work for sure. The games that are backups only work if ntsc, pals do not work.
It is definately the chip, because regular ps2 games work fine. The screen freezes or the tv does not receive a signal somehow. I think because sony tv can support different resolutions it works. My panasonic plasma has native resolution of 1024x768, though should accept 480/720/1080i, so I am not sure if the ps2 is putting out at those resolutions even though I have set to component output with the mod chip.

Most likely your Panasonic TV cannot handle 50Hz but the Sony can. Use BootManager to force 60Hz vsync for PAL PS2 games.

You know what you are right, the games launch at 50hz on the sony. Can you please, please, please walk me through using a bootmanager? I dont know how to access those options. If I can fix that I can live again!

If you've burned a firmware disc, all you have to do is the following.
1. Boot the disc.
2. Choose "Install BootManager"
3. Choose "To MC0"
4. Wait for installation to finish.
5. Choose "Upgrade Firmware"
6. Wait for upgrade to finish.
7. Reset the PS2.
By default, BM will automatically force 50Hz games to 60Hz on NTSC consoles since few NTSC TVs can handle 50Hz.
When you want to boot a PAL game, make sure you have your memory card in. BM will automatically start when you turn on your PS2, just insert your game and go.

So is that why I tried to upgarde the firmware and BM before and it wouldn't do anything?? I need a memory card to put in the slot on the outside?
When I tried it, it didn't do anything, it looked like it was copying files, but when I reseted the firmware/bm were still the same version and startup screen was the same.
Sorry, again I am a newbie!

yes, BM is installed to the memory card. You must have a memory card inserted into the first memory card slot.
