Hi all,
I have a little problem with upgrade cd.
I have tested originila 29, hacked 29, original 29 with megapack.
And no one is bootbale on my playstation.
I have the ps two black (the little playstation 2).
I don't know what information you need but all help is welcome.

Well, which chip do you have? What's the exact version of your PS2? (SCPH) How did you burn the disc? Is everything else working correctly? (backups, originals)
The discs you tested are basically the same, if one works all will work.

I have burned the disc with nero like the old one.
Yes everything else work exept one or two games who need boot loader to work. For the moment I have no more boot loader on my memory card.
You should have been told when you bought it. BootManagers system information screen shows the CC version. You definitely need a CC, no other chips are supported by the new releases.Quote:

What exactly do you mean with "not bootable"? Red screen, read error, or black screen?

sorry for the version but I can't remember. On my bill information it is write cc 1.0.
Where can I find a laser fix?
For the moment I burn cc update on rewritable media. But these media are the same where I have older release.
By not bootable I mean black screen. And I can hear a little click when dvd drive try to read cd.
Better use normal CD-R media, RW is not good for the laser. I bet it will work when burned on a normal CD-R.
I guess the clicking sound is an indication that your PS2 is having trouble trying to read the disc.
As laser fix I'd recommend the Summone fix, which are only two resistors you can find in most electronics stores. But you need good solder skills to install them. Here's a pic: http://www.teqin.de/sony/ps2/v12-13_summones_fix.jpg

Why cdrw are bad for laser? Since I have my ps two I have already used a lot of cdrw and dvdrw :-(.
I'l try with cdr this afternoon.
I have a middle skill in soldering but the part to solder seems to be very smalls. If I don't install this solder what can happen?

RW is harder to read for the PS2 and pure stress for the laser. You wouldn't have the problem you described, if RW wasn't hard to read.
I just found that you could be lucky, your PS2 can also be a v13, which doesn't need the laser fix. You have to check your motherboard version. GH0032 is a v12 and GH0035 is a v13.
The v13 has a better laser and is already fixed by $ony, but I'd still never use RWs.

For motherboard version I have to open the pstwo or I can see that without opening?
I will follow you recommandation anyway and no more RW will enter in my dvd drive.
Yes, you'd have to open it. Look at the CC Wiki (link in my signature) for a disassembling tutorial.
