i used the wires that came with the chip.. i used thicker green wire that it came with.... but is one ground wire and one power wire enough? because there is additional pads on the chip for more connections.

you only need 1 of each
yay i did it. the ps2 starts like a normal ps2 though?
should I be seeing a special screen or something?
wha its not loading any of my original ps2 games .... and everytime i turn the console on it ask me for language and time like its brand new.
Check for shorts/bridges, you most likely have one or two.
Can you take a decent picture of your install?
yes ill provide one tomorrow.
err one question... err.. Do you think i killed my dvdrom?
or can it be as you guys said a shorts/bridges that can cause the dvdrom to do nothing. i get nothing.. just a playstation option screens.
also since this is my first ps2 and i have not played any games on it... my kings quest game sounds like the cd is spinning extremely fast.
I am pretty sure it is a short or a bridge, that is what i would be looking for...
If i couldn't find any within a reasonable amount of time i would remove it and start again, after making sure the console works without the chip or wiring in it.
ah ... I rewired reinstalled resoldered the modchip. still the same problem. wont load any discs. I uninstalled everything and everything worked.
couldnt have made the same mistake twice?!
I even used a thinner wire with a better insulation.
maybe the chip is faulty?
