If the chip is not flashed, absolutely nothing will boot, no matter if original, backup or DVD video.

I'd looked at what it said, about how if the LED blinks but discs don't run, then it's a problem with the DVD wires, that's why I checked them...I'll go double check one more time, though.
If the chip's LED blinks on and off, it's safe to assume that all the BIOS IC wires are all in working order, safe from bridges & cold solder joints, correct?
It doesn't matter how beautiful your wiring job is, it only got to be correct. Using the wrong wire can cause problems too, best use Kynar AWG30 and thicker one for ground and 3.3V.
And I could post a picture if I could find my camera, although my wiring job it definitely sub-par compared to that of the guide I was following.
I guess that's possible, maybe you should try to remove the chip completely to see if the PS2 still does it's job.
If I used HSM to disable the chip, and it still doesn't work, doesn't that indicate that I completely messed up the pads for the CD/DVD, since the chip's wires are just extensions?
