While anxiously waiting for release 35 of the Crystal Chip firmware (which will hopefully add 480p/VGA support!) I decided to do something moderately constructive with my time and created a couple of boot manager themes.

I've made two themes, one based from the Crystal Chip website, and another based of the PSX Scene site. I've tested it on my v9 CC1.2 on all modes using my Dell LCD screen, although it doesn't really do 480p properly, so that might need some tweaking.

Another thing to note are the file sizes, as the CC Web theme is fairly large due to the amount of colours and complexity of the image. If your install fails, make sure you have enough space on your mem card before installing. The sizes are as follows:

    CC Web: 196kb
    PSXScene: 73kb

To install them you will need to copy the two directories included in the rar file in to a THMS folder which will need to be created inside of a BM folder.

Have fun, and if there's anything not working right feel free to let me know and I'll do my best to fix it.

Oh, I also noticed that there currently isn't a way to specify the position of the "Please wait..." message? Well, if there is I totally missed it... maybe another extra for release 35/36?

EDIT: Changed the PSXscene theme errors and added instructions file to the rar.

What do you think about something like that for your CC Web theme :

I just changed the blue button on the top right corner, I was thinking about putting the BM version here...

Great work! You should really add them on allps2skins.

Only one thing to mention, better don't use small letters for file or folder names. That's a problem when creating a disc image, cause all letters are converted to capital letters which will cause the installation to fail. And it's better to ensure max compatibility.

Just found another small bug in the install section of the psxscene theme, there's one WEB where it should be PSXscene. (or better PSXSCENE)
    Code:
    :INSTALL
         IF FAIL COPY "$PWD$" "$ARG2$/PSXscene"
            MESSAGE "Failed installing $TITLE$!"
            RRM "$ARG2$/WEB"
            RETURN -1
        ENDIF
    best regards Jones23

drazic2012: very nice job! It's good to see people are really starting to get interested in BM skins.

Regarding the "Please Wait..." text, there is currently no way to set the position. This is hard-coded to be displayed at the center of the visible display area. It may be that in the future this is changeable by configuration settings. I will addd this to my "todo" list though priority will be low. Fortunately there is not that much left on the todo list.

    Keep up the good work!

I'm having some troubles installing the theme as it's my first time.

Is it possible to RUN the themes from a USB Stick? I installed the theme (CC one), to the MC but when I go to "Change," the only theme there is "Default."

What am I doing wrong? If it's possible to RUN them from a USB Stick, then it'd be fairly easy.

    Thanks.

No, you can't RUN the theme from USB. You have to install where BM is installed : on MC or Internal chip flash memory.
Installation procedure is exactly the same as APPS:
    - Copy the themes folders into the THMS folder into the BM folder of your USB Stick. If they don't exists, create them.
Also, you need the latest firmware to make themes work. I had the same troubles as you describe with 29, but everything is working with 34 (in fact, it works sine 30).

@Everyone: Cheers for all the kind words, although someone else did all the hard work... I just converted their work in to BM themes.

@Yoc: Feel free to edit the themes however you wish. If you wish to make alternate themes based on the ones I've made here, go for it!

@Jones: Thanks for picking up my late night mistakes/oversights.

@Crystal: It's not a huge deal, just thought I'd mention it while it was fresh in my head. I must admit I'm pleased to hear that the 'todo' list is getting shorter.... means you have to be really close to the force 480p/VGA thing.

@spedmetal: I started uploading the skins, but it wouldn't let me upload a pic in to the Bootmanager album. Only my personal albums, HDloader, SMS, Toxic, myPS2, and uLaunchElf (and all their categories) show up. I may have missed something, but I'm presuming I upload the file to one of my personal albums and link it from a pic I upload in the BM album?
