Just start ps2link, run the BOOT.ELF, and you get the same menu as you do when installing by CD-R.
Have you actually tried that? .... I guess you haven't.

You're right. That must be a typo in the readme. It's the "PS2.ELF" in the FILES directory that you need to run. Sorry.

I knew I'd done it before, it's just been a while.

Now I'm experimenting with different methods of booting programs and such with both BM and myPS2. My goal is to have all my PS2 programs installed on my HDD, but yet have them selectable and able to be run from the BM application menu. I only want myPS2 to be the only thing installed on my MC to save space for game saves. So, now it's back to the .PBT scripts and finding a way that BM can access the HDD and load the selected application that's already been installed there.

It'd be nice if the Crystal Team allowed for installing/running apps from the HDD. Maybe in a future release.
Glad to hear you were successful. Did you use TheAgent's PBT-script? I wonder if the uninstallation works? (because he changed the variable to $DST_PATH$)
Another way of starting programms is LaunchELF. It's really fast at bootup (max 5 sec / myps2 needs alot longer),supports hdd and you can assign buttons to different apps, so you can start your programs by hitting a single button.
I made it my standart bootapp cause it's also a filebrowser and you can easily backup your savegames to usb, hdd and pc (over network).
Just add the following 2 lines at the end of your BMINIT.PBT to autostart an app (LaunchELF or MyPS2) when your PS2 is turned on.

    SHUTDOWN "MM"
    LOADEXEC "EEELF" "moduleload" "-m rom0:SIO2MAN" "-m rom0:MCMAN" "mc0:/BOOT/APPS/LAUNCHELF/LAUNCHELF.ELF"

Best is you keep an original BMINIT.PBT on your MC, in order to restore BM if needed.

    The Agent:

Do you think it would be possible to add the HDD option for source/destination if the HDD drivers were loaded like they are for USBMASS? I tried editing the BMINIT.PBT script to load the drivers, and if found then ADDDEV PS2HDD but so far nothing. But I think it's because the drivers I'm trying to load won't work for BM. Do you know of any HDD driver IRX's that may work to enable this?

Also, do you think you could get some sort of template/cheat-sheet for "all" the script commands and descriptions of each that can be used in PBAT scripts for BM from the Crystal Chip Team?

    Jones23:

Yes, for now I'll be using LaunchELF for storing/running apps to/from the HDD. Thanks for the script for the auto-boot. But, I still want to try experimenting with getting HDD support in BM. I'm bored lately and this seems like a challenge.

If you could do that LuNaTiC you would be THE MAN! Yeah ule can be used for HDD support with the CC but it sure would be nice to have it all bundled in one app.

    @ LuNaTiC:
Yeah, this auto-boot script comes in handy since the auto-boot feature in BM isn't enabled yet. Found it somewhere here on the forum.
Adding hdd support really will be a challenge. I wonder if there could be probs with the different file-systems (USB=FAT32, hdd=playstation-format) and the way files are handled in these systems . Don't know if this can all be done by simply replacing the driver, but I wish you good luck anyway.
I can't wait to see the new BootManager 2.0. Hopefully it will have hdd support and the auto-boot working.
It's almost 4 months of development now. They must have done some big improvements (besides those "cosmetic operations" shown on the roadmap ).
I'm really looking forward to this. Right now uLE is my standart bootup, but if BM2.0 has a good filebrowser too, I would switch back again. The only things I need BM for are the rgb-green-fix and online-gaming. I need to browse my MC far more often ,so uLE is my first choice.
Maybe TheAgent updates his site again these days. (time for his monthly status report )

I'm not sure of this either, but in the "BMINIT.PBT" it has at the bottom:

So this made me think that BM IS set up to be able to access the HDD, but requires drivers and some editing to the scripts to add the feature.

    TheAgent,
Is there any way you could find this out for us, and maybe even get some idea of what IRX modules could work (ie. PS2HDD.IRX, HDD.IRX, etc.)?

    Thanks again,

Since I was getting a little off-topic with this thread, I've started a new one here.

But, back on-topic, here's an updated PBAT script for myPS2 v1.2. I made a few changes to TheAgent's original APPINFO.PBT he posted above. Here's the Readme text included in the .zip:

    Released: 04/19/2006

    Description:

This is a Crystal Chip PBAT script for installing myPS2 v1.2
using Bootmanager. Include this file, as well as all myPS2 v1.2
files to the MYPS2 directory of your your CD-R compilation before
burning. Keep in mind that some files are case-sensitive. Your
files and directories should be named as follows:

    /boot/
    /fonts/
    /language/
    /shoutcast/
    /skins/
    /logs/
    MYPS2.ELF
    CONFIG.DAT
    samba.xml

All other files in the sub-directories should be lower-case.

    Changelog Info:

    v1.1 (Released 04-19-2006)
    - Added script to SET all sub-directories as $SRC_PATH1$ -
$SRC_PATH9$ to simplify the installation and removal of files.
Also saves from having to type them all out over and over again.

    - Added script to copy USBD.IRX from the BOOT/SHARED folder to
the MYPS2 directory. USBD.IRX is installed in the SHARED folder
by default when BM is installed to the Memory Card. This script
will not fail if the file is not found, but otherwise you will
have to manually copy the file for USB support. At this time,
myPS2 only checks for it in the folling directories:

Directory where MYPS2.ELF is being run from
    mc0:/USBD.IRX
    mc0:/SYS-CONF/USBD.IRX
    mc0:/BOOT/USBD.IRX
    mc0:/BOOT/SMS/USBD.IRX
    mc0:/BOOT/PS2MP3/USBD.IRX
    mc0:/SMS/USBD.IRX
    mc0:/PS2MP3/USBD.IRX

    v1.0 (Released 04-05-2006)
    - Initial release by TheAgent.
I've fully tested this script, but should anyone find any errors please post them here. It does take a few minutes to install myPS2, so be patient. There are 10 directories and 118 files that need to be copied. The program as a whole is about 2MB.

    I have some video problems.
    I want to use PAL.
When myPS2 starts up the screen background is blue and flicker for a short time, maybe 1sec. After that it switched to orange and the flicker is gone.
I tried different video modes in myPS2 but the colors are always wrong.

I commented out SHUTDOWN "MM" but then it won't start anymore.
    Any suggestions?
I think I'm getting aggressive with this background
