"Makeit"
Hi all,
When I open the "makeit" batch file, at the end, it reads....
The system cannot execute the specified program. ! Firmware building stopped due to error!!! Press any key to continue.....
What is causing this?
Do I need something else installed before I run the "makeit" file?
Thanks in advance!

are you using the latest FW(24)? older releases had some compatibility issues with some PCs
you shouldn't have to install anything to run the makeit.bat
if you can't get it to work, just dl the hacked FW. there's a ready to burn image inside. the link is in my signature.

Ok,
I downloaded the hack. It came with two files....was I to burn both files? When following the web site instructions, it said to pick only the one file....one was 47 bytes, the other much larger.
Please advise!
BTW, I have a Dell XPS, so I wouldn't think it would be my pc on why the firmware stopped building...

I always burn the bin with Nero and set Mode2
that works fine
and burn it to CD, DVD won't work
-
I burned the bin image to cd using Mode 2. PS2 will not boot to "sony entertainment" screen 100% of the time. But when it does, It won't read the cd. I get the "Red screen"
This Ps2 is a "mod attempt gone bad. This console was sent to me for installation but the owner destoyed the via solder points. I may need to power up with cover off to make sure install is good. (watch for 1/2 second flash on the LED.) But I would think if the install was bad, I wouldn't get the Sony screen.....
Thanks for replying so quickly!!!

it's high likely, that your symptoms are caused by a bad installation
seems to me, like the chip isn't working at all and has some bad solder points
it's supposed to boot to "sony entertainment" screen 100% of the time and since yours doesn't, there must be something wrong with the installation
and since the FW CD brings you to the "red screen", it's looking like the chip isn't working

Ok,
I have the board in front of me now. When I power up, I get a green flash on the LED. Is the flash supposed to be green? Or does that mean the install is good? The "I" solder point was the one point that I had an issue with. Will the chip's LED flash green if that point isn't connected? Depending on what you suggest, I may use the Pin of the Sony chip instead.
Thanks for your help!

From the CC homepage:
Installation LED
* CC1.1 and CC2.0 have a small LED on their PCBs to allow some first installation diagnosis. The following lines show the basic modes:
LED glows for only 1 second on system startup and discs boot = All is fine :)
LED glows all the time and won't go off = Wrong installation of the bios wires
LED goes off and discs won't boot = Wrong installation of the CD/DVD controller wires
Since the LED can be controlled by the Crystal Chip firmware we can add/change modes.
but i'm no modder, so I don't know which point to solder

The LED WILL flash even with point "I" disconnected. I will use the pin of teh Sony chip to complete the install.....I will let you know how it goes.
Thank you Jones23!
