Lets play help the n00b :)
There's no CC 1.6, only 1.1 an 1.2. The only thing you have to do to play backups is to install the hacked firmware and bootmanager.
I hope you're aware that the HDD option is only for IDE HDDs, so you need a HDConnect, or better HDCombo. And you have to create a partition named "Crystal" to get it to work. Make it with winhiip or LaunchELF.
You can find the most infos und tutorials you need on the CC Wiki. All links you need are in my signature.
It's the best PS2 forum on earth.

Thx for your guick reply. Yes ofcause there is no 1.6 i ment 1.2 CC slim version 19.
I also forgot to mention that it is a sata harddisk that ive put in a external case runnig USB2. Is it still going to work ? Or is it to slow ?
That works, but it has to be formatted in FAT(16) or FAT32, well at least the first partition of the drive has to be FAT. NTSF is not supported, and not all USB devices work with the PS2s USB drivers. You have to try if yours works.
You can use the USB HDD for apps and themes, but you cannot play games from HDD with BM.
To play games from HDD you need an internal HDD and HDLoader. USB HDD and USBAdvance won't work, cause the programmer of USBA added a anti-CC protection, but besides that USBA sucks, it's only compatible with a few games, so it's no big loss.
So you are saying that i cant use my external usb hdd for playing games not even with HDLoader or HDAdvance support or some other kind of software?
HDL is only for internal IDE HDDs, and USBA is cracked to refuse working with a CC. You can get a retail disc of USBextreme, that should work, but it's compatibility is really bad and load times are not better than from CD, cause the PS2 only has USB1.1.
I own a slimps2 and have been all though this nightmare. To play backups from your HDD you can only use USB and USBEXTREME or the other hacked version, which works a little beter. To use a normal HDD with the slim you need to install and solder in a IDE interface called HDDCONECT, which is kinda hard to do. USB sucks and there is also the problem that DNAS games fail to load without some messing with (NET GAMES). So either buy an older ps2, which I just did or install HDDCONECT. Also if you ever want to run linux on your slim PS2 you can't even with HDDCONECT installed.
To get USB working you need to first format your usb drive to fat 32. Then you need to install games to it using your computer, the game install programs are called USBEXTREME AND USBINSANE insane is faster.
I would suggest both because extreme allows you to remove damaged game. You cannot del game unless you del the files and load extreme which says the game is damaged in which case you can remove it from the installed games list. There is an index file in the root of the drive which will tell you which title is which files, I would also suggest backing up this index file.
once you have installed games to your usb HDD load on your ps2 USBEXTREME or the other version which I dont think I can mention.
There's no version 19 slim
