Lagging games

Hey, i was just gonna check with you guys if my suspicions are correct...

I noticed in games like Tekken 5 that the game lags a tiny tiny bit.. this is quite annoying since you miss combos and stuff.

And i also have some problems when i boot the machine up... some times it takes a cpl of restarts before the console starts the game (it locks up when i see the Crystal Chip logo and then nothing happens).

Im guessing i need to change my laser since i have an early version of the PStwo... am i right in my persumptions?

The early version which is 12 needs a fix for the laser even if you don't have a mod chip installed on it.
It will burn after 2 hours of game play.

well thats not entirely true, ive been playing on it for almost a year with since i installed my modchip without a problem... but this last week these problems seem to have appeared, thats why im checking if the laser is starting to break

I'm not sure why the console might hang at post boot, but the lag within games sure sounds like a laser issue. Maybe the laser is causing the driver to crash and (V12 syndrome) and making the console hang. At boot up or reset is when the V12 syndrome normally happens.

yeah thats the track im on also, well i did email the guys i chipped my ps2 at.. but so far no answer... guess ill have to call and see if they can answer on the phone and if so ill just have to drive there and have them put a new on in and calibrate it.. dont wanna try it myself since ive read that its a quite fiddley job.
