I don't know how a modchip like this would react to such a thing, but do you have to reset your clock in the Sony browser when this happens? If so the 2032 battery may be weak. That may explain why it works until you unplug it.
Myself and several other posters have found that if the CC is not warm, fuzzy, and happy it will boot from it's on board backup firmware, so I wouldn't be surprised if a weak backup battery would cause this behavior.
So what do i have to do to fix this? My brother keeps bugging me to get it fixed cause he cant play his smackdown vs raw game.
Get the battery with a multimeter it should be as close as +3v possible, if below +2.5v I recommend to try a new one.Quote:

Same problem here!! :cry: When I use HDloader or other apps I got no problems at all, but when I switch on and try to use a disc (originals, not backups!!), after having played before, I got the memory erased... :(

P.S. After all, I'm lucky, 'cause I got an older ps2 with CC 1.0, which works like a charm, in comparison with this new one with CC 2.0!!
While I haven't checked to see if the lithium battery is supplying power to the modchip, as suggested, that would be the first thing to check. If it's ok, I suppose you may have a defective/failed modchip. I've had my CC2.0 Pro for over 6 months and it's been flawless with v34.

I haven't messed with my CC 2.0 unit in a while, but I do believe this behavior is an issue with the chip itself, not BootManager. I had it happen one time when BootManager was not even present on the onboard flash memory. I just had ULE 4.12 installed on it and one day it just booted to the Sony browser and that was all it would do until I reflashed it.
Anyhow, back to drinkin beer and wonderin if I really do want to fix the electric starter on my old Shovelhead...

Thanks for the replies, here's an update for anyone who's interested...
This happened twice, I took it to the guy who installed the chip and just checked the wiring, that was all ok.
So, I managed to get it to boot the CC Install CD, formatted the DFFS like FahadSaid ... said. Then I reinstalled both the BM and the Firmware and it hasn't died again since.
Game fixes still don't work 100%, but I understand this is an issue with R34 and not the chip.
I have no clue what was wrong here, but I can't send the chip back (half way across the planet) so I'm just glad it's working again.
