I have a CC in my "fat" PS2, and a hard drive with HDLoader.
The CC firmware, BM, HDLoader, etc. were installed for me by another person (Gary of O.P.A fame) so I am not familiar with the technical details.
My question is:
The HDLoader I have installed on the memory card is version 0.8b. I'd like to replace it with 0.8c. I burned the 0.8c ELF on a CDROM and tried to "install application" but it was not detected.
Please suggest what I am doing wrong.
First off: you currently do not have FMCB correct?
It is basically a soft mod for your PS2.
Anyway, since you are able to run burned disks, burn a copy of this :
uLE v4.38 boot CD ISO http://psx-scene.com/forums/attachme...5&d=1232649902
uLE v4.38 boot DVD ISO http://psx-scene.com/forums/attachme...6&d=1232649924
And put the HDLoader.ELF ( 0.8c) on a USB thumb drive.
Now boot your PS2 with one of those files above burned to either CD/DVD.
It should load ULaunch.
Now browse to your USB drive, hit R1 and select copy on the HDLoader.ELF.
Now go back, browse back to your MC, and hit R1 again and PASTE in BOOT folder.
And now hit R1 again and DELETE your old HDLoader.ELF.
Now restart your PS2 and you should be able to use HDLoader 0.8c.
If you have any problems just ask.... DJ
App installation doesn't work that way with the CC. It won't work if you put the ELF in the BOOT folder. The CC needs a specific folder structure and an APPINFO.PBT file to be able to "detect" an App and install it. To learn more about it, check the CC Wiki: http://ccwiki.psx-scene.com/index.php?title=Main_Page
Note that the APPINFO.PBT format may be a bit different from what you see in the Wiki tutorials, depending on which CC software release you're using. But the general method applies to all software versions, so just open an APPINFO.PBT from your software version an modify it according to your needs.
You can still update your HDL the way djflexmaster79 described, but the target directory has to be the folder where your current HDL.ELF resides (e.g. mc0:/BM/APPS/HDL) and the ELFs name has to be exactly the same as the old HDL ELF. So you basically replace the old ELF with the new one.

I wasn't sure of the process of doing that type of replacing.
and I really wasn't quiet sure of the exact folder name, that his original HDL.ELF was located in.
Thanks bro, I learned something today.....:p:p
Thank you for your reply.
I am somewhat confused.
When I boot the PS2, after the CC splash screen, I get a menu with entries like: boot media, applications, devices, etc.
If I select the applications, I can then choose to run, remove or install.
Selecting install, allows installing from the memory card or the optical media (if present). That is what I tried to do.
Did you read the tutorial?
And it would help to know which BM version you have installed.
