I'm not able to play burned cds except for firmware updates –

Hi.
Since I installed my Crystal Chip I have only been able to boot from original PS2 media, except for the firmware updates. I've tried both with the standard and "hacked" firmware and the CD I'm trying to load is a PGEN cd. Well, I tried loading the "hacked" firmware and make a copy of one of my friends' game, but that didn't work either.
I were, however, able to copy some files from a burned cd to my memory card using uLoadELF.
So: I can't boot any burned media, except for firmware updates.
Hardware: GH-051-02 (that is, v15a) with a crystal chip 2 without the F wire soldered. The chip works fine-fine otherwise.
I guess I have to resolder some points but could anybody be helpful as to which points? I guess it's one of those ABFGHI+HA, isn't it?

I've tried with both the hacked and the unhacked.. I'm not very interested in running backups, but I just tried loading the hacked firmware and a backup to narrow the problem a bit more.

Without the hacked FW you wont be able to boot originals either. You can boot homebrew of course with the official FW, from disks if you have them prepared correctly. Or you can just install your homebrew to your MC, or USB HDD
I would think if your able to boot the upgraded discs without error and flash the chip without error as well that your chip is installed correctly. It might be a laser issue.

Is the v15 later worse than any other ps2 laser? Another thing is that the PS2 browser doesn't say Disc Read Error, it complains about it not being a genuine PS2 DVD...
Another question: Do i *need* to burn my cds in mode 2 to use them in my PS2?

No the V15's have the same lasers as the previous slim PSTwo's. Your issue is confusing, I would suggest maybe having another look at the install as well.

Okay. I will. Just to make sure, I tried once again. I rented an original Hitman 2 game, tried it. It worked. Then I backed it up, tried it. It didn't work.
I think I have to recheck the CDVD wires.

Ahhhh! Yes I think I know your problem now. I would suspect the G and/or H wire. I hope you resolve this problem.

Thanks. I was actually suspecting the G wire, too

All right. I just resoldered all the wires and now I'm fairly sure they're all positioned right. There is another problem, however. I think I may have damaged a diode with my soldering iron; I don't know how much heat they need to get blown, but the chip complains about bad BIOS solderings. It has to be noted that the chip worked perfectly before.
So I'm suspecting the diode; the soldering iron was "resting" on it for quite a while as I was soldering the I point (the diode is the one beside the TC and I points). Is a such diode replaceable and is it cheap. In any case, which type do I need?
How can I easily disable the chip without unmodding the playstation entirely? I tried cutting the power supply but it seemed like it got power from the BIOS or something.
