help bad modchip install
Ok i tried to install a crystall chip pro in my v4 no gap bios but now when i switch on the ps2 the sounds all wrong it sounds like a cheap alarm sound in the start menu, and when i put a game in it goes into the browser but it wont start,it keeps going back into the browser. Is my ps2 broken,i took out the modchip but no change:-pray:

Check your fuses first, then check for solder splashes on the board and on the chip legs to make sure you don't have any bridges. Use a multimeter to do this.

yeah i have to buy one of those meters to check the fuses,iv got another ps2 v4 broken laser,so i think ill switch the lasers. Then i can try to fix the other one,the solder iron i used the first time wasnt the best,i might give it another go when i get a new iron, old one was 15w very slow, new ones 30w,its a .8mm tip is that to big,i have the wire so thats ok.:chinscrat

As long as you're incredibly careful, that tip shouldn't be too big.
If you're too afraid to do it, hire someone who knows how to do it.
I used a craptacular Radio Shack iron to do the job. The tip of the iron broke on me, luckily it busted right after I finished the install. My PS2's been running strong since March, even though the install was less-than-great.

Hey thanks EJM for the help,i got one of those meters cheap on ebay, checked the bios chip and there was a bridge on it,it was the P wire bridged to the third chip leg in,allmost impossible to see.The meter deffinately made it alot easier to find.I broke the bridge with a needle, tested it,no bridge, put it back together and bye bye weird sound lol.Got to install the modchip again, but at least i can test for bridges before i put it back together now.Thx again, thought id never it back from the dead, lol:lol:

Got my chip in and its working,oh yeah. Now i want to put ulaunch on the startup, cause thats what i used before with my hard drive.

Good to hear you got it working. A DVM should be considered a standard issue tool when working with modchips and PS2's.
I install ULE get the megapack and install it to your MC, then you will be able to execute ULE from within BM.
Good luck!
