Just installed a CC 2.0 on v15 ps2 (this board # doesn't even have a diagram because it is really new, but I was told to use the v15a diagram, which does look the same).

Anyhow, as always I inspected my bios points with a 15x magnifying glass. Everything looked good.
Ran the pin test on my cd/dvd points, multiple times.
Did normal (point a to point b) test on ground and power points, they are fine.

And I did the chip test without any cd or dvd, to check the chips led. When I hit power, the chips green light goes on for about 4 or 5 seconds, then goes off.
So I figured everything was good.

Still frustrated from blowing a fuse after an install the other day (which I still can't figure out why it happened, was was very meticulous with that install as well), I couldn't believe I ran into this problem...

Problem is, like I said, I start up and I hear the opening normal ps2 boot jingle, but see nothing on screen, it just flickers for a sec. Tried putting in an original game to see if I could blindly navigate or hear other sounds from the game to see if there was just purely a video problem, but I get nothing.

I heard the hacked v34 cd spin up, but thats about it, but I know the cd is at least spinning.

    Can anyone help?
I checked to make sure everything was good so many times before I even powered up the console that I know all is well. And the led test apparently passed.
The install looks clean and good, wires are short from point a to b. I just don't know what else to do.
    Frustrated!

OK, I undid all the wires and took out the modchip and now the console works!
    Which sucks!

Question. Can I test the console at any point during the installation for errors? Like after each solder point is done?

Also, after two bad installs with no bad or bridged (or screwed up) solder points, how do I know if possibly the chip is bad?

At this point, I almost don't want to know that it is bad!

Another confusing thing. When I did the bios test during the install, my led on the chip came on for about 4-5 seconds as I mentioned, but I've heard other people say that theirs only came on for a split second.

So what does 4-5 seconds mean? Doesn't say in the manual.

4-5 seconds means your BIOS wires are wired wrong...sorry man.

Yeah, thanks for the reply. I did get a good install the other day, finally, but thanks anyhow.

I've already said this but the manual definitely needs to add that. All they say is the led should turn for a "brief moment". A brief moment can be a split second, a second, 5 seconds, even 10 seconds. Hell, some could consider a brief moment a minute!

Still, I assumed that the "brief moment" could have been 4-5 seconds. I don't think I'm an idiot for assuming that.
I figured as long as the led lit and then turned off soon after that everything was good like the manual says.

Then the manual said the install was bad if the led stayed lit, or didn't turn on at all.
My situation didn't fall into those categories, so I thought all was good.

Aside from seeing the led turn on for 4-5 seconds, I've also had a bad install where the led turned on for a split second (and again I thought that this must have definitely been the correct "brief moment".
    Yet... I was wrong again.
When I had my successful install, it turned on for one full second.

One full second, they should put it in the manual and be a bit more specific!
