I have a v14 PS2s so have always assumed that I could not attach a hard disc. Is that correct? i.e. Only v12- can have hard drives?
Are there any alternatives?
Is it possible to load games from the Network? I could set up a NFS or Samba share.

There are USB hard drives but I heard those have more problems than regular HDD.
Well half correct, V13 works as well.Only v12 and the rest are "no".
The only program that will support HDD's on a V14+ is USBadvanced. It requires a USB hard drive and the program which you can google and findbut if you plan on using a crystal chip then its impossible currently to run USBadvanced because it has some "anti-crystal chip coding" which causes the game not to load. But it does work with other chips. BTW the working percentage of games for this program is estimated at 25% and below and game movie sequences most of the time are skippy. In my opion just stick with the crystal and run the games off dvd/cd
I am curious to find out who/what group is responsible for releasing the latest HDLoader releases. .7c,.8b,etc...?
Not being a programmer of any kind, I can't foresee that adapting these releases to have USB compatibility should be too difficult, thereby getting passed this anti-cc code within USB Advance.
@Crystal Chip
Is USBAdvance not working because of a "anti-crystal chip coding" ? Could be nice with a anti-anti-crystal chip![]()
Mounted a lot of CC in >v12 and customers would be happy to have this program working, even if it is slow....
Best regards Kim
I just got my CC Pro 2.0 working in my PS2 v12. Does anyone know if the PS2 HD Combo will work with it? Here is a link to the product I am referring to:
http://www.mod-chip.com/en/ps2_hd_combo.php
Will any other harddrive kit work with the v12? I'm new at this so any info would be helpful.
