Games freezing and sound glitches

Hey!

I'm having some trouble with my CC 1.1 and my PStwo (slim).

When playing some games the PS2 freezes (sometimes up to 15min.. and sometimes it totally freezes) and following the freeze the sound gets delayed or disappears.

This often happens during/after loading/cutscenes.

I experienced the problems with BM 1.8, so I tried updating to latest release and BM.. no luck. I've even tried booting without BM.
Now I can't even boot in any other mode than minimal mode.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a media issue.

I've tried many different media and different CD-burners at different speeds.

Now i only use Verbatim which comes in 2:nd on the best media going by the "media id" (I used DVD-decryptor to figure the media id out).

It may be that your laser is dying or perhaps your PS2 is over-heating and causing the chip or some other component in the console to malfunction. Unfortunately this is not an issue we can resolve for you.

As CrystalChip said it may be your laser, if it's a V12 model without an adequate laser fix, that's a likely possibility.

From my experience with my slim, it has been extremely media fussy since day one (many of the highly recommended brands here don't work too well on it, most Jap media is fine however) so it still could be media. If you can find it, try and get your hand on a few Japanese makes of media. (look on the packages for "Made In Japan") and see how they go. It also may be worth trying some +r media if you have easy access to a decent brand.

Failing that, it might be time to change out the laser, which is a fairly quick and reasonably inexpensive process on the slimline consoles.
