    i was thinking about getting one of these and what are the different things that this chip can do and how do i do them i mean do i have to hold a button while the system is coming on to play a certain type of media or something

    i heard that this chip lets you play backups online what is needed to play backups online and which version does this because on the site it shows 3 different versions

    every CC does.
    you need the hacked Firmware19 in order to play backups online.
    with the original FW you can only play your original games.
    the hacked FW plays the backups, even online!

    www.sksapps.com has a lot of goodies, including firmware.

    Bootmanager adds capabilities, like the ability to play backups online, switch the video from PAL to NTSC, etc. If you need to use these capabilities for the game you're playing, you'll need Bootmanager. If not, the game will just boot without the enhancements BM provides.

    And BM is on the firmware upgrade CD. When you boot the upgrade disk you'll get the option to both flash the firmware and put BM on a memory card.

    but in order for a backup to be played u gotta load up boot manager right??? if u turn on the ps2 without your memory card, boots normal and wont let you run the backup?

    No! Backups will work without BM.
    BM is only needed for online-gaming, RGB-fix, NTSC/PAL-patch, and so on..

    2. burn FW to CD
    3. insert CD into PS2
    4. turn on PS2
    5. wait untill disc is loaded
    6. choose option "install FW"
    7. press X
    8. wait for FW to be installed
    9. move curser to option "install BM"
    10. press X
    11. wait for BM to be installed
    12. reset the PS2
    13. enjoy the BM
