DVD+R and CC??? –
09-25-2006,12:40 PM
im about to chip my ps2 with a cc (i think 1.1). in the documentation about the chip, it says it supports all dvd-format except dvd+r. when i burn dvd´s i allways burn on high quality dvd+r, like verbatim. my ps2 reads dvd+r movies without any problems at all. is dvd+r not compatible with CC? i reads something about dvd+r's damaging the ps2 laser, and that i therefore should go for dvd-r.
my ps2 is a version 4...(old machine but with the electric shock sign on the bottom).
your thoughts on all this please....

DVD+R are working when the ps2 drive is able to handle this media type.
I don't know version4 ps2 are able to read dvd+r but this is related to the drive, not the mod chip.
As you've written yourself it is recommended to use DVD-R.

DVD+R played fine in my v4 so long as I used some decent media. You wont know until you try though.

Some v4 units have the R V5 laser in them. Most v4 consoles do NOT support +R media.

I´ll always use DVD+R ,and if the console is v3-v7 always burn at max 2x speed and v7-v15 never faster than 4x and use good media!.
Never had any problem with DVD+R
