Is the Crystal Chip 2.0 Pro Super an authentic chip? Back when I did my last PS2 mod, the newest chip from them was the SLE and I know that Crystal-Chips threw in the towel since then. It has me worried that I might have ordered some sort of clone.

The SLE was a limited edition (as they advertised it) and only so many were supossedly made. I've never heard of a "Super Pro" version, but its possible its the SLE someone's calling a Super Pro as a marketing technique to get rid of any leftovers, as im sure theres possible some that didnt sell back when it was a hot item.
I've attached a pic of my install (done by Spedmetal) if you want to compare it to yours, as i dont think there is any other PCB for the SLE than this one, but i cant be 100% sure of all that was made.
Yea that looks identical to the SLE chip I did for my friend about 2 years ago. The 2.0 Pro "Super" which is the one I just ordered looks the same except the PCB is white instead of the blue color of the SLE model. It has 4MB of memory, which is two more than the SLE's 2MB of memory and 3 more than that of the 2.0 Pro model. It also has silver pads instead of the gold pads that the SLE has. I was wondering if this 2.0 Pro Super model was really made by Crystal Chips. I know for a fact that the SLE was, and that it was Special Limited Edition.
That's a nice looking install he did for you by the way. I've yet to get my wires quite that straight, i'll take pictures of the new install once the chip arrives. Thanks for sharing!
I dont think this 'Pro Super' was made by the CC Team, because at the time i was making skins for them and they were going to consider using one for their next version, but they suddenly disappeared around that time and we never heard from them again.
If they did make that chip, they did it completely in secret....but thats doubtful and its most likely a clone as you suspected, but with a higher capacity chip.
Ok, given what you said I'm accepting the possibility that is probably is a fake. I just hope it at least operates as well as the real thing; Crystal Chip 2.0 SLE is the BEST mod chip made. Even better than the Matrix Infinity which I am partial to. Here's a link to the product info for the chip I just ordered, if you enlarge the photo you can see it looks quite convincing down to the logo embossed on the PCB. http://foundmy.com/oscom/product_inf...roducts_id=281
You can tell this is an edited image and not original from the CC Website.

Yep, it does look pretty low-quality especially on the font at the top. Ah oh well I just hope I'm able to flash custom firmware onto it. I should have paid more attention before ordering it, that was a lot of money.
I wonder if they also include a sticker, as the SLE came with a nice embossed glossy sticker. :p
If yours dont come with one, you can safely confirm its not from the CC Team, as i believe all of their shipments included one to help authenticate it as a real CC chip and to place it on your console. Yea, you never know until you experience it, if its a good clone or a bad one.
Well, it is a JPG and has a lot of artifacts, but its the line and the square over the Foundmy logo that gives it away, as the CC Team wouldnt have made the Foundmy watermark on their own site, then put the text illustrations on top. ;) Besides, the CC Team would also have highlighted the words Pro and Super in the Orange/White, like all the others on their site.
I think this thread should help answer your question. It seems anyone with the proper skills could create the same chip you purchased.
Thanks ps2dragon, the seller probably upgrades the 2.0 Pro from 1MB to 4MB and then charges the additional 15 bucks. I never knew that people were doing that, it's interesting.
