Crystal Chip V2 BootManager Problem
Crystal Chip V2 BootManager Problem –
05-20-2007,04:10 PM
Hello,
I recently (or shoudl I say finally! ) installed a Crystal Chip V2.0 (not Pro) on my slim PS2 V15a PAL. Had it installed by a professional to make sure everything went smoothly. I then flashed the chip with the hacked version of the V34 firmware and installed the boot manager on the memory card.
I can perfectly load original and backed up games, but my problem is that, when I boot up, the boot manager doesn't show up! When any game loads (be it an original or a backup) I don't see any crystal chip logo, the games boot directly. Is that a known issue? A bug? Is it a faulty install? Pressing the reset button 6 times does disable the chip, but pressing it 3 times seems to have no effect. The weird thing is, a friend has the exact same behavior with the same hardware as me.
Any input is welcome.
Thanks,
LarrxX

Yeah I have the exact same problem. Also I have the exact same setup. It's weird because after working like it should for a couple weeks the bootmanager stopped showing up and I am now booting backup games without bootmanager. I could live with this but I enjoyed streaming my PCs media to my HDTV thorugh the PS2.

With the CC2.0 you have to install BM to the flash, it won't be read from any other device, unless you modify the firmware.

If you dont have a disc in, then BM will boot right to the main screen by default.
Same happens to mine {CC 2.0 SLE}, if a disc is in, then it boots the disc without going to BM.
Its no big deal, just open the tray when booting.
PS2 Consoles:
SCPH-30001 [V4] - unmodded (2)
SCPH-30001-R [V5] DMS4 Pro SE
SCPH-50001-N [V9] CC 2.0 SLE
SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded

Jones23 thanks for the tip. It indeed works like a charm when installed to the flash. I had no idea what CC flash meant so I didn't try the option out! oops...
Thanks!
