Just wanted to add that in version 29, 30 and 31 it will not auto play a burned movie DVD. The BM does detect the DVD. The icon shows up as a generic DVD, not a movie dvd. So the BM takes no action on the insertion of the movie. This is on a version 5/6 USA PS2 with a CC 2.0 chip.
I have verified that the BM does correctly auto boot an original DVD movie. The icon shows up as a movie DVD and the BM plays it.
Not sure if this functionality has ever worked in CC 2.0. Dont worry, you guys are not alone. The Toxic OS for the DMS4 chip does not correctly auto play burned movies either.
I think it would be great if the firmware actually handled this situation. Especially since the stock PS2 auto plays the burned DVD with no difficulty. For those people in the same boat, simply put the CC 2.0 into HSM by resetting 6x. Then the moview will boot up.
The fact that the generic DVD icon appears indicates that the disc can't be read correctly, or that the DVD has a strange format. Did you try to start the DVD Player from the apps menu when a burned movie is inserted?
I guess you're using bad quality media, cause all my movies boot fine on the PS2 with CC2.0. Use better media like Verbatim to see if it works. Look here for a media quality guide: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

This is the third time I have seen this, so I had to break down and confirm what I already knew. Jones is correct, your DVD's are formatted incorrectly as I have DVD-R movies that auto boot and some that are formatted wrong and must be forced to boot by launching the Sony DVD player from within BM....by the way doing this is a better way to get them to boot then disabling the chip with the 6x rest![]()
But really does this matter to many? The PS2 sucks as a DVD player and why waste your laser doing so.

It's not really for 29, but for 31. Here are two bugs :
- I try to make my own theme, but this is very buggy. The only resolution of the TGA file accepted is 400x240. If I tried other resolutions like 640x480 or 427x320 (it's just an example, I tried many others), BM display nothing coherent. For example :
I tried to play with width/height parameters in the theme configuration but it doesn't do anything to make the image clearer.
You can see as well that the image is upside down. So you need to flip it before saving it with Photoshop.
- Video BM interface mode is buggy too. When I navigate thru the modes, sometimes the 480p mode is listed, sometimes it's VGA. 480p is fine (and fast ! perhaps too fast, navigation is not easy) but VGA makes bad colors (I don't have a VGA cable, but components).
And the NTSC mode gives that :
Some characters are missing. I didn't have that on 29.
