Crystal Chip on SCPH-39001 PS2 Installation –
I have a question, I am getting a Crystal Chip 2.0 Pro for my SCPH-39001 PS2. To install this chip, does it mean I have to take the entire motherboard off of the PS2? Since it has wires that needs to be soldered on the back of the board also.
And if so, how do I do about dissambling the PS2 to get the Motherboard off?
Yes you will need to disassemble the PS2 down to the motherboard only. You are lucky to have a V7 which is a great version and easy to install to. You will need to remove the case, then the power supply, then the bottom RF shield, then the DVD-ROM then top RF shield. Some of the ribbon cables have locks that you need to gently lift to unlock them while others simply pull out of the ribbon socket.
