While I have a few different minor issues with my current setup, I figure IÂ’ll just work them out one at a time.

I have a SCPH-50001 3c (v9) with Crystal Chip Pro 2.0 SLE network adapter and Sony 40 gig HDD. I hooked my Sony HDD up to my computer and formatted the drive and renamed the drive Crystal (one large partition.) I downloaded HDLoader 8B ISO and made a CD out of it. I loaded the CD up in to my playstation and it said the HDD needed to be formatted, so I did. HDLoader can be used on my HDD now but my chip doesnÂ’t see the HDD nor list it as a place to there I can install to it allows me to install the flash, to the memory cards and so forth but no HDD.
What I want to do is set up my HDD to have a very clean file architecture so Games will be in their folders Applications in there on folders, system setting in its own folders ETC

    *Example of architecture *
    Games/RPG/FinalFanasy
    Or
    Apps/Media/SMS
    Apps/Network/etc

Then just have crystal chip load whatever app or game from the HDD I so command. Of course for writing to the HDD I ether load up HDLoader from the HDD or from the CD. But this doesnÂ’t seem to be working and IÂ’ve found no real guide on how to prepare the HDD for use, IÂ’ve find only a select few on how to use the APPS. CCs support and use of the HDD seems slim to none.
    Any ideas?

    Same here buddy.

I can't seem to find any tutorials on this very subject and I have been searching for two days. [I have sticky/search on the brian] Also the WiKi is down at the moment. I have a bootable CD that will launch uLaunchELF and that will launch HDL and that will launch the hard drive and games. But that is a pain in the a##.
I just want to turn on the console, auto launch (with a 7 second delay or so) HDL8B from the HDD or CC 2.0SLE and run my backups. For now . I will explore the other features after I can get this working.

EDIT: BTW after reading up I can now connect to uLaunchELF via FTP mode to my PC. I see four directories MC, MASS (usb stick), HDD, and PFS. Hopefully this can help. I will also re-format HDD naming it CRYSTAL (using winhiip). Is that right to let CC2.0 see it?

Hey guys, check this link that I used from the review sticky, it helped get my HDD access issues explained.

    http://www.fimble.com/story.cfm?id=375

Also Oz, if you have the original Sony HDD setup disk, you might want to run it with the chip disabled and have it prepare the drive. That way you will have access to the improved Sony 2.0 browser (I did this with the V9 I have a Duo3 Gold installed in and I like it a lot). Keep in mind that with CC 2.0, that only seems to work if you have the original Sony hard drive. I have yet to get it to work with a non Sony drive. If you don't care about that, you can plug the drive up to your PC and format it with WinHiip. Then you could create the partition called "Crystal".

Edit: I just looked at the review and didn't recall if it mentioned setting up your BM configuration to auto load the hard drive driver. This is the easiest way to get access to your hard drive every time your console boots. Once this is done you can set auto launch application options. Keep in mind that UlaunchElf does not usually want to launch properly from a hard drive. HDLoader however does if it is installed correctly. The Mega Pack I believe has that option.

As best I recall that link answers most of your questions. If not, just post back.

I don't have the setup disc mate. My PS2 is a rat style system. I went to gamestop to buy one used I was looking for a 50001 I found one but they had an old 30000 with a network adapeter I talked them in to throwign the network adapter in with the 50001 when they went to removed the net fro mthe other system they noticed it hada HDD with it so they threw that in the deal aswell.

looks like im going ot have ot hunt down the ulaunchELF ISO or a cue/bin setup the one i did find didn't work when I burnt to CD (media wont boot)

    Check this link:

    http://www.sksapps.com/

They should have all the files you need. They also have the original (1.0) Sony setup disk if I remember correctly.

If you can connect the hard drive to your PC then you could also prepare it with WinHiip as well.

Well I'm at a loss I downloaded and used the Sony HDD setup disc ver 1.10 and it locked up every time it got to accessing the hdd.

I can't seem ot find the uLaunchELF iso so I cna have a bootable CD with it on there, so I moved on to winhiip

set it up on my computer installed the sony hdd on my computer and formated the hdd with winhiip under the hdloader specs (not the toxic os specs)

put the hdd back in my ps2 and looked all around the BM directories. I could install or removed or run apps from "cc flash" and from the memory card, I seen the option ot install the HDD device (devices/ install/ cc flash/ HDD but unfortunately when I'd try that it'd say failed

so for the lack of anything bettwer to do im using my hdloader cd to copy a game i have to the HDD then ot see if by having some data on the hdd that maybe the chip might fancy a read

    "failed to install HDD dffs"

I thought maybe I could plug in the sony HDD to my computer and use windows XP to format the HDD rename it Crystal then build my directory architectur (im such a stickler for directory cleanlyness

    Hi

when installing elf's on harddrive/memcard/chip memory you need to use files like those from Megapack (google ccwiki !!!). The created partition has to be named "Crystal" not "CRYSTAL" or anything else!

    best regards Kim
