Alright gents.....I'm gonna post this one more time (hopefully for the last)....PS1 does work. The original ZIP file contents (and the hacked version) had 1 file that was left in unmodified that fixed PS1 compatibility. If you know how to generate the hack, use the RAR contents or just do a cleanit.bat before you run makeit.bat.

Secondly, those that are having problems with the 20 firmware with the 1.2 chips, try copying the CCHW.S from the 19 release into the 20 directory and then generate the new FW.

    I have a v1.2 chip.

I took the source and run cleanit first. Than I put BOOTMENU.PBT from hacked firmware and
    CCHW.S from v1.9 firmware.
After that I run makeit and put FILES\ on a cd. I can flash the firmware but
I also get a blank screen.

    What did I do wrong?

Here's what I found after some testing:

    • The icon files (BMAN.ICN / ICON.SYS) are copied to the root of the MC. Should be inside the BM folder and in lowercase (bman.icn / icon.sys) to work properly.
    • The firmware folder is copied to the MC too. I don't think that's necessary, cause we can't flash the chip from the MC, but only from CD.
    • The menu cursor always moves back to top after changing an option. It should stay on the value you changed instead.
    • In some menus the back button backs out twice.(when in "Change Dest Device" menu pressing circle brings you back to the main screen insted of the "Applications" menu)
    • The "Autoload on no disc" still doesn't work.
    • Some games still only load properly in minimal or sleep mode. With enhanced mode they first boot up fine, but then they crash during loading. (e.g. Mercenaries, Sims2, Rogue Trooper) (doesn't matter if original or backup)
    • Activating sleep mode through BM takes about 1min15s untill the game boots. That's way too long in my opinion.
    • Many homebrew won't start. PS2link, and SMS worked fine, but LaunchELF, Bastet, PS2Invaders only give a BSOD. I already found and fixed that bug here, so I can launch all ELFs again.
It's due to the new modules, that are loaded when launching an ELF. The modules are defined in the MEMCARD/DEVICE.PBT:
      The following line
      LOADEXEC "EEELF" "moduleload" "-m rom0:XSIO2MAN" "-m rom0:XMCMAN" "$ARG2$" $ARG3$
has to be changed to this
      LOADEXEC "EEELF" "moduleload" "-m rom0:SIO2MAN" "-m rom0:MCMAN" "$ARG2$" $ARG3$
in order to launch your ELFs again.
    • PS1 games work fine here. (original and backup)
@Da Brass: The bin file in the hacked release contains the PS1 fix. (SHUTDOWN "MMIOP")
    • No USB support for homebrew installation. Take a look here if you want to use USB

    Hello,

Thank you for your information, here's some feedback..

    1. The icon files have been corrected.

    2. Firmware is copied because the PS1LOGO binaries are used by BM when loading PS1 discs and it is possible with slight modification that the menus will allow upgrading of firmware from installed BM.

    3. The cursor moves back to the top because after changing an option the menu is reloaded to allow the script to make changes if needed. Since the menu is generated anew each time the script is called, there is no way to preserve which menu widget was selected because all of the existing widgets are removed prior to regenerating the menu.

    4. The "back button" bug has been fixed, thank you.

    5. Autoload "No Disc" was not finished before, this has been resolved now.

    6. We've attempted to resolve the issue of some PS2 discs not booting, perhaps this is fixed now. We do not have access to any of the 3 games you listed. If you have other games which have the same problem, please let us know. It may be that some games simply will not boot in Enhanced Mode due to the fact that there is limited memory in the system and some games may use every bit available leaving no room left for ModuleManager(MM) to operate.

    7. Regarding sleep mode, was this booting faster for you in previous versions of BM?

    8. Homebrew applications from Memory Card has been resolved, thank you. The problem is caused by some applications not rebooting the IOP when they start up and loading rom0:SIO2MAN and/or rom0:MCMAN which conflicts with the XSIO2MAN and XMCMAN modules and causes the system to lock up.

    9. In regard to your comment about USBMASS, understand that uLE uses RPC to manually load the ELF rather than using the mass: file system. USBMASS is an unstable module and it would seem that the file system is inferior to RPC. USBMASS is not written by CrystalChips, you will need to contact the author(s) if you have a problem with drivers which are made by another party.

In addition to the above-named things, we've fixed some unreported bugs which may have caused some strange problems. Release 21 will be available shortly. CC 1.2(CC1.1 with 128kbyte flash) seems to be having issues with the new firmware. We're working to resolve this issue.

Thank you all for your feedback and support!

    @ Crystal Chip:
The sleep mode wasn't faster with BM1.8, but with some older versions. Maybe 1.4 and below, but I'm not sure. Didn't test it with every single release.

I played around with the USB a bit more and it's really unstable. I didn't try to run apps from the USB, but only tried to install apps from USB to MC. Sometimes the pendrive isn't recognized correctly and installing myPS2 (many files and subfolders) always crashes.
It would be great if you could implement uLE's way of handling the USB, cause it works really good. With uLE I can copy the myPS2 folder from USB to MC without probs.

Thanks for the quick reply. Glad I could help.

    best regards Jones23
