Crystal Chip 2.0 Pro Install troubleshooting
Crystal Chip 2.0 Pro Install troubleshooting –
I just installed the subzero fix and CC 2.0 pro on a V12. When I power on the PSTwo with the firmware disc it says insert PS or PS2 formatted disc. When I insert an original CD it works fine. How do I find out if the chip is working or not? Also given there is a LED on the CC pro do I have to remove the case and then start it up to see it?
Any help is appreciated,
Check that all wires are right and that they all is soldered well.It can be one of P.O.M.N wires that is loose.A v14 gave me that prob last week.It plyed all org games flawless but not copy´s and on that was it the O wire that were broken somewhere inside!
OK, I will have a look. What is supposed to happen when the CC 2.0 chip is connected properly? Does it still act like like a normal PSTwo until the bootmanager/firmware is installed?
Sounds like yet another issue with improperly or loosely installed CDVD points. But this could also be a bios point issue. The CC2.0 has the diagnosis LED that you can use to get a better idea of where to start. With the slim PSTwo consoles you dont need to put the case on to test the console. Simply assemble everything leaving the case and the bottom shield off. Put tap or sticky tack on the two security switches (on on the reset and the other at the back near the DVD drive) to depress them and power up. You will easily be able to see the LED this way.
I checked the LED and it stays on meaning, as you said, the bios wires are at fault. The question I have is which ones are the BIOS wires?
He doesn't have your PS2 in his hands so he can't answer that question for you with the information provided. You just have to go through each wire and check them to make sure they are neatly soldered. Also make sure they are not bridging or anything.
Eric, the bios points are .....
M, N, O, P, Q, R, T, U, V and W
The CDVD points are ....
A, B, F, G, H, I and HA
SX is for PSX back-up booting and TO is similar to the reset points of other chips.
3V3 is your 3.3V power and GND is ground. Like T07N stated the best way is to check each wire one by one, but at least you have a good idea of where to start. A DVM comes in handy for situations like this.
I just installed a cc 2.0 and everything is hooked up right and when i put a disk in any disk original or copy it says reading disk then it will say disk can not be read does anyone kjnow why do i need a new laser?? I also instlled the laser fix please help
You have to install the Firmware and Bootmanager first before you can use it. Grab the hacked Software here on the forum, burn it to CD and install it. If it can't read the upgrade disc, something must be wrong with the installation.
what part of the file do u burn to a cdr and do u burn it as a data disk?? i use roxie
