We tried to solve the problem in crystal-chip.com forum, there were several others with the same problem, but no one knew how to... Does anyone have an idea? thx in advance

Maybe you aren't running hacked firmware to play backups. http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showthread.php?t=40852

i tried that... still saying my backup isnt PlayStation2 format :|

If original games from your regiion don't work then you went wrong with your installation somewhere.

Assuming that you have the hacked firmware and that the soldering was done properly, and the game works.

    I) Insert your PS2 back-up game, press reset.

    a) The console starts up and shows "Sony Computer Entertainment" on screen, you do not get the "Browser" and "System Configuration" screen and goes straight to red screen,
Your problem is the DVD controller points, wires A through I.

    b) The console starts up and shows "Sony Computer Entertainment" on screen, it then goes to "Browser" and "System Configuration" screen and after a couple of seconds it goes to the red screen.
Your console is struggling to read the disk, could be due to bad disk or faulty lens.

II) Turn console on and go to "Browser" insert Back-up disk, do not press reset.

    a) Console goes straight to red screen.
DVD controller, wires A through I.

    b) PS2 disks is displayed on screen when pressing X goes to black screen and returns to "Browser" screen.
    Bios wires M, N, O, P, Q, T, U, V, R, W.
