I am glad others are taking interest in this thread.
I have not ordered any or tried the upgrade of the onboard flash yet but I do plan to in the future.
Ahhh, sure enough it does. I could have sworn the last time I checked out their datasheets that it said it only supported Rapid8. Either way, the firmware will not support device larger than 32mbit and I doubt we'll add support for that since we will definitely not ever product a 64mbit version and it's not worth adding support just so a handful of people can have 8mbyte CC.

I want to confirm something... I've been posting alot about installations of apps in HDD vs MC and so on.. I need someone in the community to confirm what i think and see if this new flash could answer my prayer..
Is it right to think that :
1) Most apps problems (black screen, sms freeze at starting networking, etc..) are related to where the apps are started. According to what yoc and CC , i think, doing a shutdown MM will release the hdd driver and this is one exemple of the apps freezing when starting from hdd because exactly the hdd drivers just have been released... then freezes occurs or incomplete loading ?
2) if apps are started from the flash, do we need to leave the hdd,mc,usb drivers loaded or would we need to always shut them down (shutdown mm)?
Starting apps from the MC for me seems to work, but do we agree that this creates a new problem (lack of space for save games)... so ... if the 4Mbyes chip that edge7 is about to install work, wouldn't this represent the ultimate, problem free, of starting any applications...?
Am I making any sense ?
Dunno, I've been reading that the only way you can run SMS is from MC... that it still fails from flash, as well with some other programs... so not sure. I want to do this just out of morbid curiosity.
Just so you know... when I was using CC29, SMS was starting fine from HD...
Since I tried with 33, I get stuck on initializing network... but from mc it works...
too bad that the 64megabit won't be supported, but I would take 4MB anyday!
Well that does it for me! LOL If CC says it works, then I'm definately interested in the 32megabit Atmel..any idea who supplies this other than digikey? (they don't ship to Canada as far as I can tell). Any idea's how much this costs with shipping? It'll be nice if we can start a group buy or something perhaps for 25 pieces.
