I am still a bit undecided about what modchip I should get.
I lean towards the CC but wonder what advantages, besides online gaming and open source (a huge plus), does the CC have compared the matrix infinity chip.
Thanks in advance.![]()

since ever, the Open Source Strory NEVER was picked up by anyone in the scene.
Why would anyone want to write his own firmware?
Open Source is only the Firmware, not the Bootmanager Software.
From todays stance i would go for an Infinity.

Hmm intresting concern....
Its true, if nobody bothers to write a new firmware, open source is not such a huge bonus anymore. I also though the Bootmanager was also considered OS... Unpractical.
Why would you go for an infinity?
Infinity has a fully working Operating System,
and it offers VGA to me, and DEV2.
it is one of the stables pieces of hardware i ever modded.
and the matriy team is feelable alive.

If the matrix team succeeds in getting DNAS bypassing on their future firmware releases like rumors have said then the Matrix will totally dominate over all. The crystal chip has the DNAS bypass right now and pretty much that and bootmanger is all that keeps it popular. What I like about the matrix though is if you have a yellow, blue, or orange dot you can still upgrade them to firmware 1.88 or any future release. Don't get me wrong though I also like the crystal chip as well, people should also look into the Ghost 2 and other chips that don't get much atention in these forums.
I agree with the whole statement. The only reason I got a CC instead of a Matrix is because of the DNAS patching. For mainstream users like myself, I just want a chip that plays all my backups PS2 & PS1 and has online capabilities. The CC does all this and supports the optional homebrew applications which makes its an expensive chip like the Matrix. If there was a cheaper chip without homebrew support I would've chosen that at the time of my install. Check out the Ghost 2 it might be a better choice for you.Originally Posted by gamecubesuxs
