chip location?

Hi all! i got a question, i got a ps2 v5/6 and a crystal 2.0. i know where to put all the cabels etc but where should i place the chip?

so i can basicly put the chip wherever i want?

you have to allow for the metal chassis that goes on top of the mobo and try not to make your wires to long
