If, when you press reset, the console restart, I don't think you've got problem with a wire or something... (in some case it doesn't restart.. but it's normal, it depends on the situation and the running software)

The reset detection is done via the BIOS wires.
Your problem is due to the fact that the BIOS changed in v14 console and CC1.1+ added a new pattern match to take this into account. CC1.0 does not have that pattern match.
You have 2 choices: replace the chip or short the SI pin to ground during startup. If you have the chip oriented so that "Actel" is right-side up, "SI" is the pin of the EEPROM on the top, closest to the Actel.
FYI, you would have gotten help from me faster if you'd posted in a different thread. I don't monitor threads regarding hacked firmware.
the easiest way will probably be to solder a wire to SI and another to ground and run them outside the case. then short them together, power on the PS2 and once you get the opening Sony screen un-short the wires and flash the firmware. then you can remove the wires.
Alternatively, you could simply connect a switch in case this happens again. However I think we've resolved any issues that would cause this from happening again. Unfortunately you have a lethal combination(v14+ with CC1.0) so unless the firmware is corrupted the CC can't enter recovery mode.
CrystalChip many thanks. SI wire was the way to go.
I did this and now have FW 19 restored and the old BM. Fantastic! I did have a few difficulties but I believe these were problems with dirty laser after having taken the case apart so many times. I'll clean it properly at some point.
I won't risk an upgrade further than that at this time. Would FW 34 theorectically work on this hardware combination?
SCHP-75003 PAL aka v14
BIOS v2.14EC
CC 1.0 (now FW19, BM 1.8)

Now official owner of the "lethal combination".
Hello all,
I think I seriously messed up my Crystal Chip BIOS trying to install this. I burned the ISO from the first link and tried booting it on the PS/2, and all I got was white dots running fast on a black screen. I waited several minutes to see if anything would happen. The result? Nothing. Now my PS/2 won't boot at all with or without discs in it.
Did I just ruin my modchip? I just read now about the recovery mode thing, and I'm wondering since I didn't know that prior to doing this, I have done permenant damage. I can't help but feel that I am the only one here who did this.
ARGH!! Please help!
@smu johnson
What version CC do you have? What version is your PS2? Was the chip flashed already and previously booting games? If so what flash version was on it?
Definitely try booting into recovery mod and see how that goes.
