I've just installed CC 2.0 and haven't uploaded firmware yet. I've tried to launch original (licensed) game and a backup one and they both failed.

In the browser, I see both disks are detected as "PlayStation2 disk", so I guess the CC is (at least partially) working (without CC PS2 reports read failure on backup disk). But when I try launching PS2 disk (original or backup) I see blank screen for several seconds (I guess, it's when disk is being read) and then I am returned to browser again (Even when I started booting game right after reset, without navigating to browser, I'm still returned to browser after several seconds).

I haven't got a blank CD-R disk to try flashing it now, but I'm confused with CC not allowing me to play original disk.

DVD disks play ok. If I turn CC in hard sleep mode (press reset 6 times), original disk launches ok and backup disk still has "read error".

I know, it's probably my soldering causes this, but can anyone point out, which wires could influence on this ?

I may be mistaken, but I think that chip will not boot any games until you flash the firmware and install Boot Manager (all one process). Just download the firmware from CCs website, burn it to a CD-R and boot it up and follow the instructions.

I don't know for sure, but from what I have read it sounds like your chip is behaving as intended, so your install may be fine.

    Hope this helps,

    Hoyt

I've got the hacked v34 firmware burned on CD-R disk (Verbatim disk burned at 4x speed), but I'm unable to launch it. It's the same story: I see blue CD disk in the browser that says "PlayStation2 disk", but when I try to launch it I'm returned to browser.

    Am I missing something ?

I've also noticed, that my unflashed CC detects DVDVideo disks as PlayStation2 disks and they do not launche either (returns to browser).

Then, in manual it is said that pressing reset 3 times should bring some flashing menu or something, but it does nothing. I would think that my "reset" wire is not properly soldered and CC doesn't get signals from reset button, BUT: pressing reset 6 times switches CC off (DVDVideo and original games start working ok), so, I believe, it's not the case.

After pressing 3x resets, insert your update CD - and it should boot.

After 3x resets - the same story: returns to browser.

Could this problem somehow related to the fact, that I'm using another laser fix (I bought PS2 pre-chipped with Modbo and some laser fix, although not Neofix).

I've removed the laser fix, but the problem still exist.

burn audio cd on teh same media as the flash disk restet 6 times ie disable the chip see if the audio plays. If it doesnt you might just need to adjust your laser to read cdr media.

I'll try that, thanks, but IMHO it doesn't look like CDR read problem. With chip turned off PS2 is unable to even recognize the disk (it doesn't appear in the browser, PS2 reports read error). Also, it behaves exactly the same way as with original DVDs, so I guess it's all related to the same problem, not the supported disk types.

P.S. Can anybody confirm this behaviour (not launching originals) on PS2 with non-flashed CC ?

That's just normal behaviour, without a FW you can only launch the upgrade disc (and audio-cds I think). Are you sure the disc is burned correctly? No offense, but many people burned the bin/cue files directly onto the disc instead of burning them as an image. If the disc is burned right it contains a PS2.ELF, a SYSTEM.CNF and a BM folder.
