I had the same exact problem. Thought I might need a change of the laser pots, but that didn't help. Ended up getting CloneCD and the PS1 game burning profile... worked like a charm! Used some memorex CD-Rs (40x printable kind) on all attempts, but only those made with the CloneCD + PS1 profile run at all.
reminds me I need to crack my v10 open to change the pots back

ok i did some reading on CDFreaks and clonecd 4 is what i should try next. prob is that v4 is old. anyone know where i could requisition a "trial" of clonecd 4

the link from that site is dead. also i tried a known working backup that a friend let me borrow same thing - bsod. so i guess ill just give up at this point and not worry about it. thanks for everyones help.

You should check the SX wire, maybe something's wrong with that one.
