Nice review. A note choosing not to use BM. You don't have to use BM if you so choose. Simply use the hacked firmware and all of your stuff will boot as normal. The only downside is that you cannot access the more advanced features like video fixes, atad patching etc.

Things can get a bit overwhelming around here. Documentation isn't all that centralized. This board and the wiki are trying to change that as much as possible.

Thanks for the note, I'll keep that in mind and add it to my review. I personally will continue to use the BM, but if I were to install this chip for some other people, I'm sure I'd run into a few that would be completely thrown off by it just because they would be expecting the sony browser and mindless loading.

Actually, I think the there would be one killer thing that could be added to the CC line of chips. I think that if in the firmware, the ability to load an app directly from the hard drive would be the final thing that would make the CC chip king over every other one out there. Here is my reasoning behind that statement - right now I have my CC chip set to auto start the hard drive when the machine boots up. That's great for when I have HD Loader set to load from the HDD when I press the L1 button, simulating what people are used to with the MI chips. Here's the catch though - let's say I throw in a standard game disc or DVD movie - I don't want the hard drive to load. I only want the HD to spin up when I press L1 to launch hdloader, or any other app of my choosing when that button is pressed. If I could make that happen without the need for the BM, then every system I chip could be fitted with a CC chip. I would only stock MI chips for people who I know expect that feature. Right now not having the HDD load automagically with the BM then requires a completely extra step for a user to turn on the drive, then load HDLoader from the BM. Just pressing a button at boot up is much easier I think.
