First off i'm a newbe so plz be nice if my questions are solved easy...
My problem is that I can't update the FW. I've downloaded the hacked FW and burned it on a CD. When i press uppgrade FW nothing happens.
I've bought the 1.2 Crystal Chip with the installation so hopefullt the installation is correct. Can anyone help me solve this matter?
PLZ help me
P.S I've tried to look for other threads in this forum but there is only one thread similar to this but its about a 1.0 chip and its not clearly stated why he got it to work....

I don't have a memorycard.... Do I need it for updating the FW or to play "backups"?

12-04-2006,12:43 PMYou don't need a memory card to upgrade firmware but you won't be able to install BootManager. But indeed you'll need a Memory Card to save you games !

12-04-2006,02:16 PMWhen upgrading the FW, you'll only see "Please Wait..." for about a second, then you're back in the main menu. Maybe you expected some more.
If it really isn't working you may try to burn the upgrade disc again on a good quality CD-R and as slow as possible. That helped another guy with the same problem.
Without MC there's no way to save your games, and no way to use BootManager.
Without BootManager you can't configure the chip and you can't use any features, like screen fixes and auto-DNAS-patch.
Get an original $ony 8mb MC and you'll never need another one. Check LaunchELF for a free game save backup solution.

Thank you all the FW update worked. Tried an other game and that worked. Now I now th FW isn't flawed.
Will buy a MC and see what probs i get with that....
