Can't boot anything with CC chip...

I just got a CC installed but the guy didn't update with the hacked firmware because he didn't have the time to do so friday and doesn't work during the weekend. I wanted to play right now so I though I could just update it myself.

First off there is a weird sound that keeps playing when I boot up and in the manager, is that normal?

Secondly, I burned a copy of v19 hacked firmware on a cd and tried to boot it up with no success (I get a black screen). Then I tried original CD and DVD PS2 games and none worked (still get black screen). Then I tried to disable the modchip by pressing reset 6 times (which seems to work) but when I try to boot an original PS2 game I just keep going back to the PS2 manager.

So all in all I can't get anything working.

The modchip is under warranty or whatever so I can just bring the PS2 back to the guy monday but I was wondering mostly if there was anything else I could try or if I just completely missed something.

I attached a 1.9 hacked firmware disc, burn it to a CD and see if it works. You can update it from boot manager.

if origonals are not working it sounds like the chip is not installed correctly ..

Thanks BoF but that is the same version I already burned and tried.

That is what I was thinking gameplaya but since I don't know much about modchips I though I would ask here before giving him back the system.

It just sounds like a faulty install. Send it back to your installer and verify it with him. Be sure to tell him to find the time to install the firmware for you. Sometime about that installer just sounds a little fishy...

I know but it's a big place so no worry. I think he doesn't do Crystal Chips often because most people prefer the cheaper Duo (the only 2 models he install because he gives a life-time warranty on the install and chip). Anyway thanks for the help guys, I'll just send back the system and get some patience (and here I was hoping to play some FFXII this weekend :( )

For a pro it shouldn't matter whether it's homebrew chip or not. He should have at least tested it before he gave to you. :crazy:
