Can a DVD Movie Skip be caused by Modchip/Installation?

Today, one of my favorite movies on DVD skipped at a very important part. I cleaned the disc off, and tried again. Same exact skip in the same exact place occured.

So I tried it in a 6 year old Hitachi Behemoth, and it played right through it the part, no skip.

What could be causing this problem. The PS2 is a BRAND NEW 2 week old V15 PSTwo, with Crystal Chip 2.0.

I though I may have touched the laser when installing, yet I cleaned it off with 91% IsoPropyl Alcohol and Qtip (That's safe right/ the right thing to do?)

What is to blame? Can the modchip or install be the cause of that? Do I need to worry about the Chip causing that?

I cleaned off the disc, cleaned the laser with 91% iso + QTip and even made my Ground/Power into Higher AWG ~22AWG. Still the Movie is skipping at exactly that same spot. WTF? Yet in the other 5 year old Hitachi monster plays right through it.

Can someone help me with this matter. What is going on? Is this what I get for buying a BRAND NEW v15.

The only thing to blame here is the PS2, the laser is not one of the best. Don't think the chip can cause this, but you can make a test if you like. Disable the chip (power on, then 6X reset, $ony browser will come up if chip is disabled) to see if it still skipps. I bet it will.;)
Is it an original or a backup? If it's a backup, skipping is high likely caused by bad media.

Its an original on SHINY Golden Pressed Disc Goodness. Damn PS2.

A cutomer give me a call 3 days after I modded a brand new v14.And all his copied movies skipped all the time.So I´ve tested one my own on Verbatim and that one worked great.So he tolded me that he have always used the cheapiest media (silver on both side so it doesn´t matter where you put the beer!)So it´s a media problem for sure even if the dvd-player isn´t any good in the PS2.

Its not media.....It skipped on an perfectly good Original DVD Movie that works on all my other players. Skipping on a brand NEW v15 laser. Wow.

It's just SONY and their cheap ass consoles. I hope they crash and burn in this next generation.
