Boot Manager 2.1.6 "slowdown - pauses" problem with dvd door open?
Boot Manager 2.1.6 "slowdown - pauses" problem with dvd door open? –

Hiya...
I did notice that when I boot my ps2 with the dvd drive door open, then BM seems to "struggle" , the animation for example in the status bar is not fluent, and there is a slight input lag, like there is someone "pausing" MB or the cpu has a 99% load... (sometimes the upper part of the screen flashes in BM when a disk is in the drive, could those 2 things be related? maybe something not good in my install?)
is this normal/known bug? I use the latest 34r2 modified firmware/BM.
Thanks for any help!
edit: I uploaded a video here:

you can see the upper screen flashing and the letters in the status bar that don't move fluent. This is not the video that causes jerkiness, this is how the chip behaves...

I dont have that issue with the "flashing" above the title name, but the 'jerky' scrollbar is the same for me. Probably just how they coded it to run.
That flashing might be caused by some electrical interference between your console and TV, or it could be from cross wiring in your install if you crossed any wires.

I will open later the console to double check again everything... could that be a power issue? only happens in BM... tried a vga monitor via vga-box and my lcd/tv via component, the flashing is there...

I dont think its related to a power issue, but seems more along the line of displaying issues. I dont use VGA and i dont have a LCD either.
I have a large HDTV with component cables and some older TVs using composite cables still. Ive also run the display thru my PC's Monitor with S-Video cable (my tuner card is a cheap one) and still never noticed that 'flashing' across the screen.

I re-checked the installation, found nothing wrong... I even put small pieces of duct tape between the chip's solder-points, so there is no way there is interference (lame way but had to be sure...) , I tested once it seemed OK! So I unplugged it , put the HDD back in and tried to test again... flash was gone, so I had to reflash. I reflashed and had the same problem as before.
I gave up on it now, and ordered a 2nd DMS4pro... thanks for the help JNABK !

the thing with dms chips....when it comes to isolating the power and ground, you need to find the nearest ground point and try not to get the other wires (example DVD/CD controller wires) and bios wires near the power and ground cause it WILL cause interference and glitchy screen......try and relocate the bios wires and what not and ensure you use some good conductive wires for the power and ground. (use the wires from an old PC powersupply unit).
