The official version doesn't support backups, that's why you need the hacked version. And of course there are some authentification functions inside the official FW and BM, which have been removed from the hacked versions.
The hacked software is already available here, just look at my signature for the link. And you don't have to use the cleanit, it's not even in there. There are only the bin/cue image files and a readme inside, so no cleanit.bat you could run.
To get the HDD to work you have to create a partition named Crystal with uLE or WinHIIP first.
Ive got some questions:
If I have a PAL display, I wont have a problem with "streched" image right?
And also, to install apps from CD, I first install the hacked FW/BM, insert the original FW cd containing the apps, go to app browser, and from there install the apps, right?
A third question, why would I want to use ULaunchELF when BootManager already is all I need? Is there something Im missing? (I dont use HDD)
1. Right, a PAL TV has no streched images, cause it has the right resolution. It's build to display PAL, so naturally it's able to display PAL correct.
2. That's exactly the way it works if you're installing from CD. You can also use USB or the network to install apps. That way you won't have to burn a new CD for every new version of your apps.
3. You miss the fact that uLE is the perfect gamesave backup solution. If you run low on MC space you can copy all gamesaves to a USB stick, or to PC via network. No need for an other MC or that crappy maxdrive shit. ULE has a fully functional filebrowser, a jpg viewer and a texteditor.
