Black screen with V14
Just got a V14 in (75001, GH-037) and I tried to install a CC 1.1, but I'm getting a black screen upon boot up. As far as I know, the chip was unflashed and completely unresponsive to any of the reset commands.
Suspected it was a bum chip, so I installed it on a V4 and it booted up; loaded firmware 18 and installed BM on memory card and proceeded to reinstall on V14. Still nothing; same results as before. The green LED on the chip flashes for a split second, which indicates a good install. The screen flashes when the PS2 is powered up, but no audio or video is present. I've tried both composite and component video cables as well as two different TVs.
Anyone have any ideas?

Yeah, test the fuses. I had a simliar problem on a v13 with MI chip and it was PS14. If all fuses are good try to redo the install, could be a bad solder point. I would put up a v14 fuse location picture, but I only have v12/13 which are very different. Try searching the forums for a v14 fuse pic.

JUst beacuse the led flashes for 1 second and goes out does not mean its a good install it says to check CD/DVD controller connections A,B,F,G,H,I if games will not boot or Black screen got to be a install error.

I found the problem. Little chunk of solder bridging points near W. It was hidden under the rest of the BIOS wires, but after some vigorous blowing; all was well.
As for the LED; according to Crystal's site, issues with the BIOS wires should result in a lighted LED which was certainly not the case.
