From the CC site:
So why do you want to boot in recovery mode?Recovery Mode
The CC1.0/CC1.1 has a built-in Recovery Mode which may be enabled at any time to allow you to recover from corrupted firmware. Thanks to an internal checksum, CC will automatically detect corrupted firmware and boot in Recovery Mode. In the event that CC fails to automatically detect corrupted firmware, you may force "Recovery Mode" by pressing reset 3 times on startup.(doesn't seem to make much sense)
It's only usefull when your firmware is corrupted, and if that's the case then simply upgrade your chip with a working one.
I don't think you can use BM in rec. mode, because the chip doesn't have the latest firmware improvements in that mode. But I can't say for sure.
