    On one website it says:
"We are now stocking the CRYSTAL 1.2 LITE chip for installs and premods . This chip has auto boot and flash upgrade features like its competitors dms and matrix but it also has 1 more features no other chip on the market has , the ability to play backups online without any patch needed for the game .

ww.trustedmods.com/index.php (homepage about half way down)

But I go to the Crystal Chip website and check their help section and find this:

Will Crystal Chip allow me to play copied (aka "backups") or import games?
Crystal Chip will not allow you to play copied or import games.

(help section about half way down page).

Does the Crystal Chip 1.1 and 1.2 lite play backups of PS2 and PS1 games?
    or
Is the trustedmods website blowing smoke about it playing backups online?

I wasn't too happy when I read that either, but after some further reading here, I saw that Crystal Chips' releases the source to their firmware, which is then hacked by a 'generous community member' to play backups.

You can get the latest modified version of the official firmware here: http://psx-scene.com/forums/crystal-...-modified.html

*edit* I'd recommend you get a Pro 2.0 or Pro 2.0 SLE. The bigger onboard flash is great, you can store the BootManager on the chip as well (instead of just the firmware) and you won't need to load it off a memcard.
