dms4 pro - v13 can't flash
dms4 pro - v13 can't flash –
09-17-2005,03:15 PM
I've installed a dms4 pro in my pstwo V13. I've never been able to update de chip with any of the flash upgrades availables out there. I´ve already try another dms4 pro but i get the same results.
After power on I get the sony screen, then i put the flash cd in it.
But i get the red screen of "not a playstation disk". the flash disk is good because i've already test it in another ps2 with a diferente chip and it boot but, of course, i can't upgrade because it wont find a proper chip to upgrade. so, i wasn´t able to check if the burnt image is totaly good. but it seems good...
I also, sometimes I get a black screen and the pstwo won´t boot. After several retires i can get it back to live with the 3 resets trick. but then i try to flash it again and same result, not a ps2 disk!!!
I don´t have a HD, what is the best and reliable flash that i should use.
HELP!!! WHAT I'M I DOING WRONG?

Bad solder connections.. redo them. Are you using flux ?

What is flux? that cream for cleaning the solder? If so, yes I'm using it.
I´ve already flash it with toxicos 0.2. But lots of times I get a black screen on power on. If the playstation stays on for a long time, viewing a movie for example, then if i reset the playstation I will get the black screen for sure.
I've moved the dms4 pro to a V9.
Same problem

I would say it's a bad DMS chip. Your install looks great, but I had the same problem when I flashed a DMS chip in a V12 before, and installing it in other consoles gave me black on boot 100% of the time.
Did you try disabling the chip and seeing if you could boot, or flashing the chip via a USB stick or memory card?
I think the laser points are the ones on the back of the board. These would probably be the ones giving you problems if the chip works. Make sure they are short as possible and not crossing too much.

Check your Q wire... It doesn't look like it is connected... If it isn't the chip will act like it isn't even there...

Q is for v12+ only, no need to be connected on a v9.

V9??? The unit he installed it into is a V13, you need the Q connection...

I've moved the dms4 pro to a V9.
Clearly mix up here...
If you check the pictures you can see he installed it in a v9 and you advised him to install the Q wire. I only corrected your statement since you don't need Q on a v9 console.

thats clearly odd that the pic is from a v9 but you say v13, show some pics of the v13 and you might get better results..
