DMS4 Lite bios works, won't boot anything
I am installing a DMS4 Lite on my v12. I have everything connected, and it seems like it should work, but will not read any cds.
When I boot it, if I press square, I get the message DMS4 Disabled...
Also, it passed the test mentioned in the installation of the Neofix chip.
I have verified all of the leads, from the pins of the ASIC on the DMS4 to the PS2's DSP or other points on the motherboard. My ground wire is 20awg and short. Everything seems to be in order.
However, when I boot it, it spins up the disc, but will just give me the 'spinning electrons' boot screen and come up to the menu browser/system config.
If I go into the browser, if there is a regular PS2 game in the drive, it will say 'there is no data' and at the bottom say 'reading disc...' then after a few minutes, it will say "The disc could not be read." If I have the Toxic boot disc in the drive, it will do the same thing, but right away.
I think that it may be a problem with the laser but I don't know how one would diagnose a problem like this. I can hear the laser tapping the dvd sometimes, is this normal?? How can I verify if my laser is toasted?
