I installed a DMS4 Pro EZI the other day. That installation went perfectly and the chip works great.

The console doesn't read discs anymore though. Not only does it not read discs, but it doesn't even spin up or try to read any disc you care to insert.

I took the DVD drive off the chassis during the assmebly, and suspect I may have damaged one of the 4 ribbons that connects it to the motherboard. I re-disassembled it and doublechecked the connections and they all seem sound. At this point, because the chip works I can do without the drive not reading. Even so, I'd really like it to work like normal.

Anyone else have trouble making the PS2 read discs after chipping it?

EDIT: Woah. I've been registered for two years but never posted wtf?!

Which cable is that? There are like 3 cables that connect to the drive.

There's a wide one on the bottom of the unit that connects the laser assembly to the motherboard, and a pair of smaller ones on the side that connect near the eject/reset button connection. Weirdly, the wide one is the easiest to reconnect despite the tiny amount of space available.

The drive tray opens and closes, so the device must be getting power. Its just that there's no indication that it reads the disc at all. If I take the PS2 top cover off the disc never spins one bit.
