DMS 4 Lite ISSUES ... HELP!!!
DMS 4 Lite ISSUES ... HELP!!! –

Hello out there, maybe one of you mega gamerz can help me out.
I installed a DMS 4 lite in my fatty PS2 (v9) and when i turn on the unit the LED lites up red.
if i push the reset or eject button it turns green for a couple seconds , then back to red.
The tray won't open and just a blank screen appears ...
WTF??
I have taken it apart twice to try to double check everything. I don't see anything wrong indside.

Well in the past I installed many DMS 4 chips. What I found is that when this happens it is usually a installation problem. If all solder connections are correct then look at your wire routing. It is critical that the wires be routed neatly otherwise they are subject to picking up noise and this will cause the chip to not function correctly.
I stopped installing these chips back in the day because they were so hit & miss with regards to them working after installation. I even destroyed a few motherboards in my attempts to troubleshoot and reinstall these chips and I am a excellent solderer, military trained.
v9 consoles suck and if you could get your hands on a v7 fatty then you would have a better chance of this chip working.
I know I haven't given you anything useful other than there is no quick fix for your issue. That's why nobody responded right away to your post.
Good luck man...

Thx So-Cal...at least I got one resopnse !
This is a solderless version so I just carefully snapped the chips into place.
Here are some pix of the install..maybe you (or anyone) can help by looking at them.

It seems like maybe the BIOS Chip was slightly damaged in shipping or something.
There was a tiny piece of black plastic chipped off one of the edges that clips on to the PS2 BIOS chip.
It didn't seem to damage any of the contacts so I just installed it anyways.
The peopole who sold me the chip say that the chips all come like that.
Hmmm... anybody know if that's true?

I don't know about that chipped edge, but ANY solderless chip is going to give your problems. I suggest you clip off the snap-on peices, and solder the wires to the MB directly. That is the best way to install something like this. Also, look up the Romeo mod, I don't know if it's applicable to your version of the Ps2, but I would check anyway just to be safe. You don't want to be burning out your laser. In all honesty though, I would scrap that chip and go with a Crystal Chip 1.1 or 2.0. They won't give out on you at all, and they're pretty easy to use.
