Hey all,
I want to know if the Matrix Infinity (green dot) will read DivX movies (with the latest firmware upgrade)?
Or is it only the Matrix Infinity Homebrew (are these actually two different chips?)?

Neither of them will read DivX.
It's just a mod-chip, not a media player!
However, with a mod chip it makes it very easy to install homebrew software, once of which is a DivX player (SMS)
The Matrix Infinity is one chip, you can put the MI "normal" FW (firmware) on there which allows you to boot backup games and homebrew, or the homebrew FW which only allows homebrew software.
Hope this helps.
I don't see any "MI normal" firmware upgrade. As far as I can tell there are only the normal FW updgrades which do not include .ELF, then there is the homebrew FW which they saw REMOVES the possiblity of running backup games. The only other thing I see is the DEV2 V1.1 software upgrade which they say enables .ELF but says nothing about reading backups. Any help appreciated.
(the MI I installed is also not running DVD movies but I will post that separately.)
Huh?
You're confusing me.
The normal firmware updates come as a CD image, you burn the image to a CD and flash it that way. But if you do open up the CD image with some program, there's an .elf file in there for the FW upgrade.
The normal FW can do everything the homebrew FW can do and more.
What do you even mean by "enables .ELF"?
I have the Normal MI 1.88 FW on my MI chip and I can book uLauchElf (a program) without any problems, from there I can run SMS etc.
Oh, thank you, I get it. Sorry the confusion was on my part.
Thanks again.
Oh, is there any way to use the SMS media player without all the networking stuff (e.g., via CD)?
